Modern life is hardly thinkable without the Internet. Digital technologies open boundless opportunities in the sphere of development and education of children and teenagers, Unfortunately, not many Internet users can fully use these opportunities. The main reason of this fact lies in low level of digital competence of the younger generation and their parents. As results of the survey conducted by the Foundation show, despite high level of Internet activity of children and teenagers, their level of knowledge and skills of safe use of digital technologies is far from perfect.

Our main goal is to facilitate development of the information society: forming of its citizens fully able and ready to use digital technologies in a responsible manner for the purposes of solving various life problems.

To this effect we have created Internet: Opportunities, Competences, and Security Program aimed at increase of digital competence of teachers and teenagers studying at Russian schools. The program was developed by experts of the Foundation for Internet Development, Psychology Department of Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the Federal Institute of Education Development supported by Google company.

Results of the First Russian Survey of Digital Literacy Competence of Russian Schoolchildren and their Parents held at the beginning of 2013 by the Foundation for Internet Development are at the forefront of the program. More details about the survey. Learn more about the research

The Foundation for Internet Development worked out Internet: Opportunities, Competences, and Security teaching guide including two parts:

Starting from September 2013 the Foundation for Internet Development holds Internet: Opportunities, Competences, and Security training workshops for teachers and tutors who will be able to transfer their knowledge to colleagues and students helping them to increase their digital competence.
